Pretty complete family handprint kit, with just a few minor quibbles
I have not used this set yet, as it’s intended to be a holiday gift for one of my children. But I have reviewed the contents thoroughly and have a few observations that I think are worthwhile.Generally, this is a fairly complete set, with arguably everything needed to make four “plates” of hand and/or paw prints, frame them and hang the result. The plates seem a bit thin and flimsy, but that really should not be a problem once they are inserted in the frame. The frame itself itself seems like “just enough” – it’s neither poorly made, nor exceptional. The painted surface seems like it could be easy to scratch, but should be fine if handled carefully before hanging, and if hung well.While this set includes paint, it does not look like a lot. I suspect the small vials of paint will easy be enough for a child’s hand or a pet’s paw, but larger adult hands are likely to need more than what’s provided. It may be wise to consider using a larger bottle of craft acrylic paint on hand in the desired color(s).The four plates could be used in creative ways, not only providing a “nesting” image of hand prints, but also layering paw prints and written text in interesting ways, like having names written larger on the back plates and tapering to smaller on the front plate, layered not just on top of each other but also varying in height. I think there’s a lot of potentional here.The other potential downsides might include:- The top of the frame is open, making it fairly easy for the plates to fall out if the frame gets turned around. I’m a bit concerned that if it falls from the wall that the plates will go scattering, even if they should not shatter. It just seems like a bit of an oversight to not provide a way to “lock” the plates in place once in the frame.- That the plates are clear may limit how visible and/or attractive this is, when hung on walls painted certain colors. I think that dark colors or some uncommon tones might make the contents a bit less attractive to look at. That said, it would probably be easy enough to cut a piece of White or colored paper or posterboard to fit behind the back-most plate to provide a cleaner look in such cases.Overall, I think with just a bit of being careful in making your display, this will be a great kit and a fun thing to display and celebrate your family.

Paint was slightly dry when opened
I bought this Handprint kit as a welcome gift for a newborn niece. I think it is a lovely gift, overall. However, since I bought it as a gift, I would have liked for it to arrive in a box suitable for gifting. The plain cardboard box doesn’t really make a great impression. Secondly when opening, I had to explain what it was. Although it was obvious to me, she was a bit confused.The yellow paint was slightly dry upon opening, so she didn’t use it. She did say she is happy with the gift as a keepsake and was satisfied with the quality.I should say I held it for over a month before I gifted it, so perhaps the paint was fresh when it was shipped. For $20, I think it is a good value.My niece did put a colored sheet a paper in the back, so the handprints popped when hung on the wall
