fun alternative to traditional tic tac toe
I have an 8 year old who loves to play tic tac toe while we wait for food when eating out at a restaurant. We now bring this game as it adds a level of complexity to a simple game and we no long have games that always end in ties. We’ve had fun making up rules for games as well. “You can’t play a large piece on your first move”, “you can move pieces that are already on the board”, etc. Recommend!

A New Twist on Tic-Tac-Toe: It’s About Time!
No one should ever win a tic-tac-toe game, as we all know. But in this set, you have nine pieces in three different sizes. This lets you play a larger piece on top of a smaller piece, which certainly adds a new element of strategy. The rules are a bit vague, but my adult daughter and I decided that you can play a larger piece on top of one of your own smaller pieces as well, if it works to your advantage. We played three games, which I actually won. This is a rarity as she usually beats me in any game of skill, but I think her tic-tac-toe skills were rusty.In my initial take on this, I have to say that the person playing first has a big advantage. It seems pretty obvious to start by playing one of your three large pieces to the center square. All three games came down to the usual situation, where if the other person makes a mistake, the better player creates a situation where there are two ways to win. In regular tic-tac-toe, of course, the opponent can only block one of the two ways. In this new version, it would be possible to block both ways in some cases by playing a larger piece on the opponent’s key square. But if you’ve already played the largest piece on that square, the opponent can’t block you.I need to play a few more times to see if the person going first should always win–that may be the case if you use the right size pieces. But in any case, this is quick and fun. Kids could certainly play it, or just play regular tic-tac-toe if they want. But I think adults will also enjoy this new twist on the game.The quality and design are good. The orange and blue pieces are cheerful, and the tic-tac-toe board is easy to assemble. Things fit back neatly in the box when you’re done, as well.

This game comes with nice plastic pieces that all look good, seem durable, and enjoyable to play with. The game itself comes with very simple unclear directions. I figurednit wasnt a bigndeal but when searching for better rules on the interent I was not able to find anythingnmore clearnon the rules either. It seems every company had their own set of rules and this is really a game where the two playing need to decide on the rules they want to follow. After finally establishing some rules the gsme itself was only kind of fun. My wife, kids, and I all got bored pretty quickly and put it away and probably won’t ever play it again.

This one is part of the rotation in family game time. The kids like that the game is a little more dynamic than the usual tik tak toe, which they finish so fast because it’s too easy.
