At Bordin Health, we believe in combining tradition with science. That’s why our prenatal formula includes chamomile and red raspberry leaf—two time-honored herbal ingredients that offer gentle, natural support during pregnancy.

Chamomile is known for its calming and digestive properties. In small, non-concentrated amounts, it may help relieve occasional discomfort, support better sleep, and promote overall relaxation during the emotional and physical changes of pregnancy.

Red Raspberry Leaf has been used for centuries by midwives to support uterine tone and labor preparation in the later stages of pregnancy. Scientific studies suggest it may help support a smoother birth experience when used appropriately during the second or third trimester.

We use both ingredients in low, safe doses, in line with clinical research and under professional guidance always with the well-being of mom and baby as our top priority.

Here are the important facts about DHA’s relevance during pregnancy

1. Fetal Brain Development

Essential for Brain Growth: DHA is a major structural component of the brain and is crucial for the development of the fetal nervous system. During the third trimester, the fetus experiences rapid brain growth, and DHA is critical during this period for the development of cognitive functions and learning abilities.Cognitive Benefits: Research suggests that adequate maternal DHA intake during pregnancy may be linked to better cognitive outcomes in children, including higher IQ and improved attention and problem-solving skills in early childhood.

2. Eye Development

Retina Formation: DHA is an important structural component of the retina. Sufficient DHA intake during pregnancy helps ensure proper eye development in the fetus, which can influence the baby’s visual acuity after birth.

3. Reduction of Preterm Birth

Lower Risk of Preterm Delivery: Some studies have indicated that pregnant women with higher DHA levels are less likely to experience preterm birth. Adequate DHA intake can help prolong pregnancy to full term, which is important for the baby’s overall development and health.

4. Potential Benefits for Postpartum Mood

Mood Stabilization: DHA may also help reduce the risk of postpartum depression. Omega-3 fatty acids, including DHA, are involved in neurotransmitter function, and low levels of DHA have been associated with mood disorders such as depression and anxiety.Maternal Mental Health: Ensuring adequate DHA intake during pregnancy may support the mother’s mental health both during and after pregnancy.

5. Immune System and Inflammation

Anti-inflammatory Properties: DHA has anti-inflammatory effects, which can benefit the immune system of both the mother and the baby. It may reduce inflammation-related complications during pregnancy, contributing to overall maternal and fetal health.

6. Sources of DHA

Fish and Seafood: The richest sources of DHA are fatty fish like salmon, mackerel, sardines, and anchovies. However, pregnant women are often cautious about fish consumption due to concerns about mercury. Low-mercury fish, such as salmon and sardines, are safer options.Supplements: Many prenatal vitamins include DHA, or it can be taken as a standalone supplement derived from fish oil or algae. Algal oil is a plant-based source of DHA and is a good option for vegetarians and vegans.

Inositol

Inositol.Inositol.

Did you Know?

Inositol is a type of sugar alcohol found naturally in foods and is important in various cellular processes, including insulin signaling and the functioning of neurotransmitters. During pregnancy, it has gained attention due to its potential role in improving maternal and fetal outcomes. Here are key facts about inositol and its relevance in pregnancy:

1. Gestational Diabetes Prevention

Role in Insulin Sensitivity: Inositol, particularly myo-inositol, has been studied for its ability to improve insulin sensitivity. This is important because insulin resistance is a common issue in pregnancy, leading to gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), which can affect both the mother and baby.Supplementation Benefits: Studies have suggested that myo-inositol supplementation in early pregnancy may reduce the risk of developing GDM, especially in women who are at high risk, such as those with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), obesity, or a family history of diabetes.

2. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and Fertility

Inositol in PCOS Management: Women with PCOS often have irregular ovulation and may experience infertility. Inositol, especially in the form of myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol, has been found to improve ovulation, menstrual regularity, and insulin resistance in PCOS patients, thus aiding conception.Supporting Healthy Pregnancy: By improving metabolic and hormonal imbalances in women with PCOS, inositol supplements may enhance the likelihood of achieving and maintaining a healthy pregnancy.

3. Neural Tube Defects (NTDs) Prevention

Complementary to Folic Acid: Inositol may work synergistically with folic acid to reduce the risk of neural tube defects (NTDs), such as spina bifida, in the developing fetus. Though folic acid is the primary recommendation for NTD prevention, there is some research suggesting inositol may provide additional protective effects, especially in cases of recurrent NTDs.

4. Role in Mental Health

Mood Regulation: Inositol plays a role in serotonin signaling, which is important for mood regulation. Some studies suggest that it may help alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression, which can be concerns during pregnancy and postpartum periods.

5. Safety and Dosage

Safe for Use: Inositol supplements, particularly myo-inositol, are generally considered safe during pregnancy when taken in recommended doses. Typical doses used in studies for preventing gestational diabetes range from 2 to 4 grams per day.Consult a Doctor: As with any supplement, it’s important for pregnant women to consult with their healthcare provider before starting inositol to ensure it is appropriate for their individual health needs.

Scientific summary regarding red raspberry leaf (Rubus idaeus) and its possible association with miscarriage or adverse pregnancy outcomes

There are no randomized controlled trials (RCTs) or cohort studies confirming a causal link between red raspberry leaf and miscarriage in humans. Some wellness blogs and articles suggest possible uterine stimulation in early pregnancy could lead to miscarriage. These claims are not supported by scientific data and are often speculative or based on confusion with other herbs (e.g., black cohosh, blue cohosh, primrose oil).

8 reviews for Complete Prenatal Vitamins, Folic Acid, Iron, Choline for Neural Tube Support, Omega-3 DHA for Fetal Brain Development, Calcium-Helper D3 & K2, Non-GMO Vegan Gummies

  1. Michael

    Perfect fit
Very tasty, good texture and not too gummy.

  2. Reginald Hawkins

Contains necessary vitamins for mom and baby
They taste like candy. Great blend for pregnancy.

  3. S. Little

    Great flavor!
Even though I’m 71 my doctor told me to ditch my multivitamin and get prenatal vitamins instead. They work well, and taste great!

  4. Mo

    Doctors were impressed
My doctors were so impressed that i found a prenatal gummy that has iron. Pretty much the only one like it on the market.

  5. Julia Smith

    Eh
They taste kinda waxy almost? It’s strange but they seem to work. Texture is fine.

  6. Trevor

    Delicious!
These are DELICIOUS. Totally enjoyable, and I will absolutely be ordering this again.

  7. Alexis B

WATCH OUT! chamomile & raspberry leaf
WATCH OUT! These contain chamomile which should not be taken at any point in pregnancy, and raspberry leaf which should not be taken in the first trimester. Even though everything else about them is good these will increase miscarriage odds!

  8. HK09

    OK Gummy Vitamins
These prenatal gummies are small and easy to chew. They are soft and chewy. Flavor is pretty decent and doesn’t bother me.If you close the cap tightly, it does have a “press and turn” safety feature, which is good. If you don’t get it twisted on tightly enough though it can just be twisted back off.I find it a bit odd that a prenatal has a caution statement to consult a physician before use if pregnant…since that’s literally the intended use. Other that that, these seem fine. The bottle includes a one month supply and the price is higher than other comparable prenatals I’ve found and like so I likely won’t stick with these.
