Tips for how to make it turn out nicely
This is a nice little gift/craft item for a parent or grandparent. The frame isn’t high quality and ours arrived with a significant scratch on the front. I painted over it with the provided paint, but this isn’t a nice enough product to put with nicely framed art. It is just fine to put with a Shutterfly family canvas photo and a Walmart wall clock.Tips for Use:1. If you are the adult making this without another adult’s help, use your non-dominant hand for the print. (So I’m right handed. It would have been better if my family all did their left hands, so I could use my dominate hand when it was my turn.)2. Think about the the colors. Don’t use white if you are putting it on a white wall. Lighter and darker colors alternating will look better. We did green (in the back,) yellow, blue, and red using the provided paints without mixing. I think using different paints or mixing could have made some nicer combination options, but that looked good enough.3. Measure a line up for the bottom of the palm and draw it with the whiteboard marker. We eyeballed it and ended up with the tops of our fingers all kind of the same height, but the bottom of the palms spread out. It would have looked better if the palms were the same distance from the bottom like the picture.4. DO take off the plastic covering off both sides right before you do each print. (I might have left it on the front for the first print while grumbling that the plastic wasn’t clearer…) Before you take off the covering, have young kids practice putting their hand down. (Paint optional for this.)5. If you can, do one hand print and let it dry before attempting the next one. Move the pane that you are printing to the front and the other ones behind, so you can see how it lines up. Then leave it in the front to dry, before messing with it. You can put it in the box it came in with the lid lightly closed so it doesn’t get anything on it while drying and if you are gifting it to someone, they can’t see.6. Have a wet paper towel, a dry paper towel, and a bunch of wet/dry q-tips on hand. First, if you totally mess up, you can wash it off completely and try again. Second, they can be used to clean up rough edges.7. Paint the hand of the person with the provided brush with a generous amount of paint. You’ll need to paint a bit of the side of the thumb. Have them put their hand in position and press down on each finger. Then they should pull it directly up.8. This step makes the difference between the messy ones that you see a lot of people post here and the ones that look good. The hand print is the starting point; you’ll need to erase some spots and add some paint. First use the wet paper towels and q-tips to erase any of the smudges outside. Toddlers will move their hand a lot and you’ll get big smudges. Just get rid of the extra paint around where the fingers should be and then dry it with the dry paper towel and q-tips. Q-tips help a LOT for this step. Be sure to wipe off all the extra and not accidently give your toddler six fingers. I may have also done that on my second try doing her hand… Fortunately, this is a fairly forgiving project.9. Then take a paint brush (I used the one provided, but a slightly smaller one would be nice) and fill in paint. You don’t need to get the space fully painted, but there will be a lot of spots that didn’t print and you want most of them filled in. I left a little texture of the actual hand, but you could paint it solid. Either way, in my opinion, it will look a lot nicer than a real hand print that typically has big gaps.

    Lots of fun
This was a lot of fun, my wife and I had a good time painting each others hands and doing this. It’s cool, it’s got three slots in the wood so each hand print goes on its own glass.

    Better than I even expected!
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I was looking for something to capture my 1 year olds handprints and footprints that would fit the vibe of my home and be a staple on the walls for years to come. I loved the look of the wooden frame and decided to purchase. Boy am I glad I did! This is a unique item and was exactly what I was looking for. Easy to capture the prints and slide the acrylics into place. I can’t wait to gift these for future baby shower gifts.  As a new mom I would have loved to receive it.

    Perfect Family Project
Love this so much. We have a family of 4 but plan on having another kid later on so we just used Crayola washable paint so we can redo it later on. Turned out adorable.
