We’re game people.

Nice to meet you!

We’re Evan and Josh, the two guys behind all this. We’re so happy you’ve stumbled across our Very Special Games!

How did we get our start?

We were tired of games that were just reading pre-written jokes off cards. Instead, we wanted to make a new style of party game that gives people opportunities to be as hilariously creative as they can.

What makes our products unique?

Our games are designed to help both the shyest folks and master comedians create fresh, totally original humor every time they play.

Clever or Crass?

Most of our games are meant for adults but are usually as clean or as dirty as your group wants to make them.

Lifelong quirky board gamers.

We’re dedicated to making creative, different, and tears-streaming-down-your-face funny games.

Ransom Notes

Players use word magnets to respond to outlandish prompts. This party game has infinite hilarious combinations!

Puns of Anarchy

Turn your favorite bands, movies, and celebrities into puns — change just one letter or whole words on reusable dry erase cards!

Abducktion

A weirdly strategic duck kidnapping game, 15 minutes of light strategy of ducks, a UFO, and mind-bending, shape-finding logic!

Founded in Memphis, TN in 2019

We started playing our first prototype game on sticky notes during lunchbreak and a few months later launched our first game!

    Fun strategy game
This is such a fun strategy game. I like that it came with written instructions and a QR code with video instructions for multiple ways to learn. My family and I enjoyed the game better each time we played. It’s nice that it can be played alone or one to one for anytime play, but we will be adding this to our next game night with friends as well. Highly recommend!

Not For Me, But I See How Others May Like It!
Okay so I’ll preface this as this game wasn’t the game for us, but I can see it being a hit for someone else (hence I want to base my review on the game from that perspective rather than just purely my gaming tastes).First off, this component quality of this is outstanding. I mean part of the reason you’re playing this game is because of the awesome toy tree you get to build while you play, right? So it’s super nice that the quality of the pieces is really high and that it works well. The game is a very simplistic game where you place a branch/buds, pick a card, and bloom/place your flowers if you’re able. So for someone looking for a very pretty game that provides a simple ruleset, I think this could be for you. I think it definitely can reward players who play more by finding various strategies and understanding the placement and how that may affect future placements. So, for someone who wants a super simple and quick playing game (who is brought in by the theme and components), this might be one to try out.For me, it just fell flat. Maybe it’s a bit too simple for my tastes, but I just didn’t feel like there was a lot that I could do and found it frustrating how lack luster my turns felt. The person I was playing with (who also is a pretty big hobby gamer, but normal errors on the lighter side complexity wise), had similar feelings. The card play felt pretty repetitive and while it was nice for simplicity there were only a few cards in the game, it felt like it got boring fast. So, I rate it a 4 star because I think it’s a stellar production and could be a fun game for the right group, but I kinda think you’re going to know how you feel about this from just looking at the box/game. I didn’t feel like it was the game’s fault for me not liking it (would rate much lower), but rather my tastes that impacted my experience.

Smart, Tactile, & Beautiful Board Game from Consistently Great Creators!
First of all, the game is beautiful to behold. The cards are well-designed, the tree has such a varying and unqiue shape, and I love the tactical feeling of the cards, buds, and flowers. The verticality of this game is much appreciated since it allows for a bit less space to be taken up, which for living in a small one bedroom with a small kitchen table, is appreciated. Tall > wide. The gameplay is deceptively complicated; instructions are easy to understand, but you realize about 5 minutes into placing your first branches how wrong or right this could go based on your decisions, which is my favorite kind of game to play. Took only about 8 minutes to fully understand the directions and about an hour to finish our first game–I imagine it gets faster as you get to know strategy a bit more. I specifically like the deck mechanic that allows variability from game to game in strategy beyond the simple placement of your branches, buds, and flowers. Haven’t played with the expansion yet, but soon enough! Overall, quite happy with this game and it’s certainly entering the game rotation for my partner & I.

    Easy to learn and play
RulebookSimple and easy to read with picture examples to support the different concepts.ComponentsBig toy factor with the tree trunk, branches, and flowers. The end of the game product looks really neat. Honestly, that is the biggest draw to the game is wanting to play with all of the pieces. The plastic on all of those parts are fairly sturdy.GameplayEach turn you are placing out branches and buds while waiting for the bloom card to be drawn. When that happens you are allowed to put out flowers on top of the buds that are already out. At the end of the game you get points based on the number of weather cards as they relate to flowers you have out. Overall, I liked the game and it is a good one for families with kids that are at a minimum 8-10 years old so they can start to embrace the strategy part of it. Get it if you are looking for something on the more simple side of the board game spectrum.

    Colorful and fun!
I’ve never played such an aesthetic and tactile game!! I also really enjoyed the concept of the tree growing as you progress in the game. Very fun!

  8. The Smillers

Beautiful abstract game in a huge box that’s a bit finicky
I think I recommend this at 2. It’s a fun game and most of the rules are easy to grasp, but there’s some slightly difficult things with how it is multi-level. It comes in a really big box, maybe a bit bigger than necessary. I guess you can try and plan for it, but the end game scoring feels a little random. The components are nice and of nice quality. They can be a little finicky to place sometimes. I don’t think it finds itself in my main collection of 2 player, abstract, or toy games. But it’s an interesting game to bring out.
